Tickets for the ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2026 will go on sale on 6 March, with the prestigious table tennis tournament scheduled to take place at Galaxy Arena from 30 March to 5 April, organisers announced yesterday.

The event, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and organised by the Macao SAR Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group and World Table Tennis Management Group, will feature 48 women and 48 men competing for one of the sport’s most prestigious singles titles.

The tournament has become one of the biggest annual table tennis events on the international calendar. It marks a key stop for many of the world’s top-ranked players ahead of the sport’s major championships.

Defending champions Hugo Calderano of Brazil and Sun Yingsha of China are set to headline the competition. The tournament will also feature leading Chinese players, including Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Liang Jingkun and Zhou Qihao on the men’s side, as well as Wang Manyu, Chen Xingtong, Wang Yidi and Kuai Man in the women’s draw.

International contenders are also expected to compete, including Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto, Sweden’s Truls Möregårdh, Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic, and Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna, who qualified through continental competitions.

Young talents will also be part of the field, including Japan’s Kawakami Ryuusei and China’s Qin Yuxuan, the U19 boys’ and girls’ singles champions at the ITTF World Youth Championships.

The 2026 edition carries additional significance as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the ITTF, the global governing body for table tennis.

ITTF World Cup Macao 2026 tournament format

The competition will be played in two stages, beginning with a group phase.

In Stage 1, the 48 players in each draw will be divided into 16 groups of three, competing in round-robin matches played in a best-of-five games format. The top player from each group will advance to the Stage 2 knockout rounds, where matches will be contested in best-of-seven games.

The group stage will take place between 30 March and 1 April, with two sessions scheduled each day starting at 9:30 am and 5 pm.
