Bookkeeper and Admin (Part-time)

Location: Macao office

In our fast-growing startup, we’re looking for a proactive and highly efficient individual to take up the role of part-time bookkeeper and admin. Your primary responsibilities will include using Xero online accounting software to maintain financial transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable and reconcile bank statements. Your role will also encompass dealing with various administrative tasks such as office management, document handling and general administrative support. 

Scope of role:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero accounting software
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements and other financial documents 
  • Process invoices, receipts, payments and other financial transactions
  • Assist with budget preparation and process office expenditures, from general operating expenses to staff expense claims
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communication
  • Manage office supply inventory and reorder supplies as needed
  • Assist with document management, filing and record keeping
  • Maintain the office condition and arrange necessary repairs or maintenance


  • Undergraduate degree
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese
  • Efficient with strong time management skills
  • Discretion and trustworthiness
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration
  • Proficient in utilising Mac systems

This position is part-time, requiring approximately 20 hours of work per week. The work schedule offers flexibility, allowing for potential adjustments in hours through mutual agreement. In such cases, the compensation will be appropriately adjusted. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

此職位為兼職,每週工作時數約 20 小時,薪酬按經驗和資歷而定。工作時間靈活,可透過雙方協議調整工作時間,薪酬將按時數適當調整。

Simultaneous interpreter and translator (freelance, retainer) 

Location: Macao

Macao News is looking for English-Chinese simultaneous interpreters and translators that we can work with on an as-required, freelance basis.

Applicants will be responsible for supporting our journalists during Chinese-language interviews, transcribing interviews and other ad-hoc translations. 


  • Minimum 5 years’ of translation experience
  • University degree in translation, interpreting or similar field
  • Native Cantonese and Mandarin speaker
  • Fluent in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurate, collaborative, reliable
  • On a flexible schedule
  • Able to turn work around quickly according to publishing deadlines
