Lisbon, Portugal, 20 Jul – Macau won nine medals in the second edition of the Lusophone Games, which was held in Lisbon and came to an end on Sunday.
Macau won a gold medal in women’s Taekwondo (67 Kg) and three silver medals in men’s and women’s volleyballl and men’s Taekwondo (80 Kg).
Macau also won five bronze medals at this edition of the Lusophone Games, which started on 11 July. These medals were won in women’s Taekwondo (49 Kg), men’s Taekwondo (58 Kg), men’s and women’s team table tennis and individual men’s table tennis.
Brazil won the most medals at the games with 75, followed by Portugal (71), Angola (14) and Macau (9).
A total of 12 countries and territories took part in 10 events (athletics, basketball, football, five-a-side football, Judo, Taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, and sports for the disabled.
The next edition of the Lusophone Games will be held in Goa, India, in 2013.
The first edition was held in Macau in 2006.
