More than 6,000 business visitors have arrived in Macao from mainland China so far this month, according to official figures

A government handout credited a number of conventions organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) for the arrivals.

It said “many convention organisers” arranged itineraries lasting three or more days and that delegates had offered positive feedback on “Macao’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the mixture of Chinese and Portuguese cultures, the concentration of world cuisine” and other attractions.

The SAR is making strenuous efforts to revive the city’s tourism industry, which was dealt a severe blow by the Covid-19 pandemic over the past three years.

Some 650 million patacas have been set aside for promotional campaigns this year.
