The central government’s top official on Macao affairs, Xia Baolong, met with community leaders on the second day of his week-long visit to the territory.
Xia, who is the head of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, held talks yesterday with members of the Central District Community Service Consultative Council and of the Northern District Community Service Consultative Council to learn more about local affairs and people’s livelihoods, the Macao government said.
He then went to Government Headquarters to hold discussions with Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and hear presentations from other local officials, before visiting the National Security Education Exhibition at the Macao Forum.

Later in the day, Xia, accompanied by the finance secretary Lei Wai Nong, visited the Macao Chamber of Commerce for meetings with local entrepreneurs on a range of topics related to Macao’s economic diversification.
Xia arrived in the territory on Monday and was taken for an inspection tour of the recently completed Macao Bridge.
He departs the SAR on Sunday.
