The number of Covid-19 cases in Macao has totalled 1,765 as of midnight last night with just 10 new cases recorded in the past day, among them seven were found in Red Code Zones and medical observation hotels and three in community, which comprised one close contact, one case in the Citywide and Key Groups NATs and one case among other population groups.
In addition, a total of 21,764 people are under follow up as of 8 am today, including 3,478 close contacts, 11,676 individuals with overlapping itineraries, 1,284 secondary contacts, 254 general contacts and 778 accompanying persons, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.
Health authorities have indicated that Macao’s partial lockdown could start to ease next week as the city’s new cases continue to drop this week. The daily Covid-19 cases announced yesterday dropped to 22 from 27 on the day before (16 July).
The number of Red Code Zones is also gradually decreasing as the city continues with its series of mass nucleic acid testing (NAT). The 11th mass testing began at 8 am yesterday and will end at 7 pm today. The mass NAT results are available via this link.
Only people with negative self-administered rapid antigen test (RAT) results uploaded onto the Macao Health Code are allowed to enter the testing centres. Those with positive RAT results must call for an ambulance by contacting 119, 120 or 2857 2222.
As of 8 am today, 440,336 individuals have been sampled in the current citywide testing and 409,501 of them have tested negative, with only one batch of pooled samples found positive so far, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.
Further tests will be carried out on the 10 individuals in that positive batch.
The number of positive batches found in the citywide mass testings has been decreasing in the past rounds. It went down from 94 batches found positive in the 4th round to 41, 23, 17, 13, 9 and 5 (5th – 10th rounds).
The 12th round will be held from 8 am tomorrow until 7 pm the next day, and the 13th round is scheduled to take place from 8 am on Friday until 7 pm on Saturday.
