Macao recorded zero new Covid-19 cases in the past day with the city’s total number of cases remaining steady at 1,821.

In addition, as of 8 am today, the number of people under follow up remain the same as yesterday, totalling 22,979 individuals, which include same numbers of yesterday’s close contacts (3,544), people with overlapping itineraries (12,399), secondary contacts (1,365), general contacts (254) and accompanying persons (789), the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 150,190 individuals have been sampled in the city’s mandatory nucleic acid testing (NAT) for Key Groups, Key Areas and people who are working away from home – all results have been negative. As of 8 am this morning, a cumulative total of 1,203,964 samples have been collected since 24 July.

Meanwhile, Macao’s 14th Citywide NAT programme began at 8 am today and will conclude at 7 pm tomorrow, during which each person will be given 10 rapid antigen test (RAT) kits and 20 KN95 facemasks. All people in Macao are required to take the current mass NAT and no groups (including children aged 3 or under, the elderly and the disabled) are exempt from testing.

Everyone in Macao is still required to undergo a daily self-administered RAT until 1 August – and upload the results online. As of today, everyone in Macao can now use ordinary surgical masks instead of KN95 masks.
