Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and his predecessor Edmund Ho Hau Wah attended Thursday the opening ceremony of the Dah Chong Hong Logistics Centre in Hengqin.
According to a statement by the Hong Kong-listed conglomerate also known as DCH, the logistics centre is the first officially approved project of the Guangdong-Macau Cooperation Industrial Park.
The statement said that with its years of experience in Hong Kong, Macau and on the mainland, the centre would “enrich the Greater Bay Area [GBA] logistics and warehousing services.”
DCH, which is engaged in motor vehicle sales and repairs, air cargo equipment distribution, airport ground support equipment maintenance, logistics, warehouse services and a wide range of other businesses, was established in 1949, the year of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau, Fu Ziying, and Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac were also present at the ceremony, which was attended by dozens of other Macau and mainland officials and businesspeople.
The statement quoted Dominic Sio Chi Wai as saying in speech that “with the emergence of a new pattern in the GBA, including the digital economy and the smart economy, it will bring new opportunities to the logistics industry.”
Sio pointed out that the Hengqin DCH Logistics Centre has recently “been granted the function of a bonded warehouse by the General Administration of Customs”.
Sio also said that the newly developed logistics centre was the “top priority” of DCH’s supply chain network in the GBA.
According to the statement, the centre run by DCH Macau Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd. is located in Huandao West Road in Zhuhai’s Hengqin New District. The project was green-lighted by the Macau government in 2014. The centre covers an area of 25,000 square metres, with a total construction area of 54,000 square metres. The total investment is about 250 million yuan (293 million patacas).
The statement pointed out that the centre offers services including normal and constant temperature storage, frozen storage and seamless refrigeration chain logistics, food processing and distribution. The facilities include up to -40 degrees Celsius ultra-low temperature storage.
According to the statement, the centre provides a one-stop food supply chain full-service logistics package. Its logistics networks covers Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jiangmen, Macau, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Zhuhai.(Macaunews)
