Meta CEO and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has overtaken Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in terms of wealth for the first time since 2020, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index. The two men were ranked third and fourth place, respectively.
The figures show Zuckerberg’s total net worth as US$187 billion and Musk’s as US$181 billion.
Musk’s drop in the rankings comes as Tesla marks its first year-on-year sales decline in nearly four years, Business Insider reports. The electric vehicle company’s stock has fallen by more than 34 percent since the start of 2024.

Topping Bloomberg’s index was LVMH boss Bernard Arnault, with a net worth of US$223 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was in second place at US$207 billion.
Zuckerburg and Musk’s public rivalry plays out in more ways than wealth, with the tech bigwigs’ respective social media platforms Threads and X (formerly Twitter) competing for users.
Another cause of friction is a 2016 SpaceX explosion that destroyed a Facebook satellite. Last year, Musk challenged Zuckerberg to a cage fight – though this has yet to take place.
