Underground musicians from around the world are performing tonight at the Livraria Portuguesa bookshop, coupling classical instruments with synthesisers to create an exploratory sonic landscape, Ponto Final reports.

Organised by Guia Experimental, the Winter Series event features artists from Austria, the United States, Portugal, mainland China, and Hong Kong.

The Macao-based Portuguese duo Rui Rasquinho and Rui Farinha – who will be performing as Too Loose Low Tech vs. The Discobombulator – are well-known faces in the SAR’s experimental music scene.

Other artists include Hong Kong’s Kung Chi-shing and Steve Hui (Nerve), Austria’s Conny Zenk, Gischt and Peter Kutin, mainland China’s Mei Zhiyong, and Ken Ueno from the US. Ueno is music professor at the University of California, Berkely, and reportedly enjoys challenging traditional paradigms of auditory beauty.

Tonight’s show kicks off at 7 pm and tickets are on sale at the door.

Guia Experimental is a collective of electronic musicians who began staging events three years ago, seeking to bring more adventurous alternatives to music lovers in Macao.
