Three local restaurants have been awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2024 Michelin Guide to Macao and Hong Kong.

They are the Chinese restaurants Kapok and Son Tak Kong and the Portuguese-Macanese establishment Restaurante Litoral Taipa. The selections bring to 10 the number of Bib Gourmand restaurants in Macao.

Michelin has released the Bib Gourmand selections ahead of the full restaurant list, which will be unveiled on 14 March.

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said Bib Gourmand  establishments not only showcase “the thriving food culture that permeates” Macao, “but also highlight the many possibilities gourmets looking for great culinary experiences at affordable prices can enjoy.”

Michelin inspectors praised the “yesteryear glamour” of Kapok, the “no-frills, authentic Shun  Tak cuisine” of Son Tak Kong and the “casual vibe” and bold flavours of Restaurante Litoral.

Bib Gourmand awards are given by Michelin to restaurants and street food purveyors that provide “delightful value-for-money gourmet experiences.”
