Eight mainland tourists in a tour group on a four-day trip to Hong Kong and Macau complained to a local tour guide about being charged 200 yuan (260 patacas) to take them to the Venetian in Cotai.
However, the tour guide insisted that the 200-yuan Venetian visit was a part of the group’s itinerary which each tourist knew about before the trip started.
Eight tourists in the group of about 40 from several mainland provinces called the police and refused to continue their trip after having lunch in Fai Chi Kei on being informed that they each had to pay 200 yuan to visit the casino-hotelcomplex in Cotai.
According to Public Security Police (PSP) officers quoted by The Macau Post Daily, the tour group which arrived in the city Sunday paid just 910 yuan for the four-day Hong Kong-Macau tour.
The eight tourists, who refused to be interviewed by the media, insisted that they should visit the Venetian at no extra cost.
According to the tour guide, the group could choose whether or not to go to the Venetian, or stay in their hotel or wait on the coach while others were visiting the Venetian, but if they wanted to go to the charge was 200 yuan.
The tour guide insisted that the 200-yuan visit to the Venetian was listed on the itinerary and the rest of the group apart from the eight paid up.
Eventually, the eight tourists chose to stay at the hotel they booked into for their local overnight stay.(macaunews)
