Helicopter rides will top the list of six subsidised city tours due to be launched at the end of April.

The itineraries, which are being organised exclusively for residents by Macao travel agencies, will run until the end of December.

In addition to a MOP 280 tour subsidy, the scheme will also offer residents a MOP 200 subsidy for a hotel staycation.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that details of the programme, which is costing the government MOP 120 million, should be announced by mid month, The Macau Post Daily reported.

The tourism chief also said that all six itineraries will be “community-based tours” rather than “leisure tours”, because the staycation subsidy would enable participants to enjoy hotels’ leisure facilities.
