Macau, June 8 – Macau is set to open a 24-hour border checkpoint at Coloane Pier from June 30, allowing visitors who travel by yacht to enter or leave the region, according to the Official Gazette issued  by Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chief Executive Chui Sai On.

It is seen as a move to facilitate MacauZhonshang “Free Yacht Travel Scheme” scheduled to be launched in July.

The construction work has almost been completed at the dock located on the waterway in front of the Concordia Industrial Park in Coloane, which can provide anchorage space to hold 50 yachts, said the Marine and Water Bureau director  Suzana Wong  in a recent interview.

The director said that the new berths for yachts would be put into service during the middle of the year.

The next stage would add more berths on the waterway in front of Ocean Gardens in Taipa, which will increase the total number of berths to about 170, she added.(macaunews/xinhua)
