Macao is gearing up to launch a major campaign to attract more foreign tourists.

Speaking in a radio programme about local tourism recovery on TDM’s Chinese language channel Ou Mun Tin Toi, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Cheng Wai Tong said there will be more offers for those who decide to visit Macao but did not go into details.

“With regard to the foreign market, we will soon launch a buy-one-get-one-free campaign aimed at attracting more tourists from foreign countries to Macao. This campaign will be associated with the resumption of Air Macau’s routes abroad. We will also create packages for overseas tour groups, in addition to plans for mainland tour groups,” he pointed out.

Cheng also said that Macao will continue to offer ticket promotions and hotel discounts to visitors from mainland China.

From Friday, Hong Kong residents will get a free return ticket for a different day when purchasing a one-way ferry or bus fare to Macao, a promotion aiming to encourage overnight stays, he added.

The MGTO deputy director said the l government is aiming to attract 40,000 daily visitors to Macao. Since the city’s travel restrictions with mainland China and Hong Kong were relaxed on Sunday, over 109,000 travellers have visited Macao over the past three days.
