A film about Macao’s iconic Grand Prix has been entered for a prestigious international award.
“The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix”, produced by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), was officially selected as one of the six nominations for the “Best Event Film” category at the “International Motor Film Awards 2021”. The “International Motor Film Awards” is the world’s most prestigious events for the automotive film and television industry.
The documentary was directed by veteran filmmaker Sérgio Basto Perez. With the aid of a team of Macao talents, he presents a journey through the history of the Macau Grand Prix, guided by the voices of drivers and riders past and present, together with a glimpse of the unique atmosphere, character and emotion of a Macau Grand Prix Weekend.
“The Legend of the Macau Grand Prix” was developed to be displayed in the new, state-of-the-art Macao Grand Prix Museum Screening Room, using the latest 4K projection and 7.1 surround-sound technologies.
The documentary will be screened to museum visitors starting from 5 August, twice daily from Monday to Friday (except Tuesday), at 12 pm and 4 pm; and four times daily at weekends, at 11am, 12 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm respectively.
The International Motor Film Awards recognises directorial and production talent from high-end films and commercials to student and independent productions. Supported by leading authorities in the automotive sector, and leading brands within the film and television industry, the “International Motor Film Awards” are the Oscars for the motoring world.
All nominated films are eligible for the nominations for the “Technical Achievement Awards” (Best Cinematography, Best Stunts, Best Sound and Best Editing), as well as the “Grand Prix Award”.
The results for the “International Motor Film Awards 2021” will be announced on 15 September at The Clapham Grand, London.
