Transport links between Hong Kong and Macao are gradually opening up, with ferries starting to link the two cities this Sunday for the first time in almost three years.
Ferry services between Taipa and Hong Kong airport restarted last Friday.
Initially, the Marine and Water Bureau pointed out, both TurboJET and Cotai Water Jet will resume the ferry route between Taipa Ferry Terminal in Pac On and Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan, providing about 10 round-trip sailings each day.
The first ferry will depart from Taipa Ferry Terminal every day at 9 am, with the last ferry leaving the terminal at 5:30 pm. The two ferry companies will “timely evaluate and adjust” the frequency and sailing points of their ferry services, according to passenger traffic demand.
The bureau urged the public to pay close attention to the latest Covid-19 travel regulations in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao before departing.
According to Cotai Water Jet, the company will provide six sailings daily between Hong Kong and Macao, departing from Hong Kong at 9:30 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm. and from Taipa at 11 am, 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
TurboJET said earlier it would resume its Hong Kong-Macao ferry services with about 16 ferry trips per day.
In related news, HZM Bus, the operator of the Golden Bus shuttle service, announced that since yesterday the real-name system is no longer being used to purchase tickets for shuttle buses between Hong Kong and Macao, while on-site ticket sales have been resumed, which means that passengers can buy their tickets at the company’s counters on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Meanwhile, according to the Hong Kong government, travellers aged three or above arriving from Macao are required to present a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) result valid within 24 hours or a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result valid within 48 hours, while those who have been to mainland China within seven days must show a negative NAT result valid for 48 hours, The Macau Post Daily reported.
