Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng’s trip to Lisbon will take place from 18 to 22 April, TDM reports.

Topping the schedule will be meetings with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister António Costa and Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho. Ho is also slated to meet with China’s ambassador in Portugal Zhao Bentang.

Transport secretary Raimundo do Rosário will be in Ho’s entourage, the public broadcaster says, and a 40-strong delegation from the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute will be in the Portuguese capital at the same time.

Between 15 and 22 April, a light show and other events will take place at Lisbon’s Praça do Comércio to promote tourism to Macao. The Macau Government Tourist Office is also organising meetings with Portuguese tour operators.

Earlier reports suggested that the economic advantages of Macao’s Portuguese connections would be on the agenda in Ho’s talks with Portuguese officials. TDM says the development of the Greater Bay Area and Hengqin will also feature.

Ho Iat Seng is due to host a reception in Lisbon on 19 April. While in Europe, he is also expected to have meetings at the European Commission.
