The government had a surplus of MOP19.5 billion (US$2.4 billion) in January and February this year, according to official data.
This is an increase of 15.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
The amount is close to one-half of the MOP41.1 billion surplus estimated in the budget for the whole year.
Revenue from direct taxes on gaming amounted to MOP19.8 billion in the first two months of 2013, up by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2012.(macaunews)
