The local government will lift its 14-day quarantine requirement for arrivals from Qingdao from noon today as no local COVID-19 case has been reported in the port city for over 14 days ago, the local government’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced on Wednesday.
Wednesday night’s statement said that the last local case was reported on 13 October in the northeastern city, i.e. over 14 days ago, and no local COVID-19 case other than those related to the Qingdao Chest Hospital has been detected through city-wide nucleic acid testing (NAT), adding that therefore the Qingdao city government has now classified the whole city as a COVID-19 low-risk area.
The statement said that therefore the Macao government has decided to lift its 14-day quarantine requirement effective from 12 pm today for arrivals who have been in Qingdao within the past 14 days.
However, the Macao Health Code of arrivals from Qingdao will still indicate yellow, which requires them to practise 14 days of “self-health management”, the statement said.
Those undergoing their 14-day self-health management are advised not to leave home unless going to work or school. If they need to go outside, they should always wear a facemask. They need to check their temperature every day, and the Health Bureau will be in constant contact with them to monitor their state of health during the period. Employers are required to ensure that those with a yellow Macao Health Code work in a way that minimises their contact with others.
The Macao government will continue to closely monitor the latest COVID-19 epidemic situation in Qingdao before a possible change in COVID-19 measures for arrivals from there, the statement said.
The Macao government had imposed its 14-day quarantine for arrivals from Qingdao on 13 October.
Currently, for the mainland, only Kashgar prefecture in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is still on the Macao government’s list for the 14-day quarantine requirement. Those who have been in Kashgar within 14 days prior to their entry into Macao must undergo 14 days of quarantine and medical observation at one of the government’s “quarantine hotels”.
