While 500 people remain locked down inside the Grand Lisboa Hotel, SJM Resorts – the hotel’s owner – has announced that it is maintaining “close communication” with relevant government entities, and pledged to implement, as well as contribute to, the government’s Covid-19 pandemic measures.
SJM pointed out that “in relation to the designation of Red Code Zone on the premises, proper care has been extended to all affected employees, guests and tenants, which includes accommodation and three daily meals”.
The hotel was locked down on Tuesday after 13 of its staff were diagnosed with Covid-19. Patrons gambling in the hotel’s casino were permitted to leave before the shutters came down.
SJM noted that the hotel is also arranging the “orderly delivery of essentials to those affected which have been delivered by families and friends” in line with the government’s precautionary guidelines. The government has arranged for the disinfection and cleaning of the premises.
SJM emphasised that the hotel “will continue to implement strict containment measures, as the health and safety of all guests and employees represent its top priorities” adding that “Grand Lisboa stays united to fight the virus with the Macao community”, The Macau Post Daily reported.
