The details of the SAR government’s “Healthy Macao Blueprint,” a long-term plan that aims to transform Macao into a healthy city by 2030, were announced at a press conference this morning, TDM reports

During the unveiling, the Health Bureau revealed that the initiative would consist of 20 targets and 52 evaluation indicators that cover a range of areas including health risk factors, mental health, chronic illness and infectious disease.

By 2030, the blueprint hopes that the health literacy of the entire population will have improved, with residents generally adopting a healthy lifestyle and major chronic diseases put under control.

The blueprint consists of three major policy directions: shifting focus to prevention and early detection; the allocation of greater resources; and the replacement of passive attitudes toward seeking healthcare with active ones.

According to the Health Bureau, the Healthy Macao Blueprint was drawn up by consulting the central government’s Healthy China 2030 plan, as well as frameworks for action from organisations such as the World Health Organisation.

A number of senior figures attended the press conference this morning, including the director of the Health Bureau Lo Iek Long, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U, as well as representatives from local associations and organisations.
