Wynn Palace opened Monday night, drawing big crowds to Cotai to try their luck in the new casino, while Wynn Resorts Chairman & CEO Steve Wynn told a ballroom full of guests that the new US$4 billion resort that took six and a half years to build was a “gift” to the community.
“It’s our gift to the community, to the public,” Wynn was quoted as saying in a statement from Wynn Palace.
While hundreds of people gathered around the about 27,000-square-metre musical fountain for the opening, Wynn hosted a dinner in the new resort’s ballroom with VIP guests including Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and his predecessor Edmund Ho Hau Wah.
According to the statement, Wynn told his guests that the hotel was dedicated to guest experience.
“In any hospitality business there are only two words that matter – guest experience. All the rest is irrelevant, and all of the marble and crystal chandeliers, and all the wonderful good taste that has been put into this building are dedicated to that one thing – guest experience,” Wynn was quoted as saying.
According to guests, Hong Kong-born Chinese-American pop star Coco Lee performed during the dinner. There was also an orchestral and opera performance. The guests also spotted Austrian-born Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger at the dinner.
