The 2025 Macau Touring Car Series (MTCS) concluded over the weekend at Guangdong International Circuit in Zhaoqing, with its second and final round. Drivers from Hong Kong continue to dominate ahead of November’s Macau Grand Prix, the Macau Daily Times reports.

The MTCS serves as both a preparatory event and a qualification pathway for the 72nd edition of the Macau Grand Prix. With 68 drivers registered across two rounds and four races, divided into two groups (A and B), only the top performers secured slots in this year’s main event.

Hong Kong racers Lo Pak Yu, the victor of race 4, and Wong Chuck Pan, winning race three, came first and second overall in the weekend’s Group A segment, with Macao driver Leong Keng Hei in third place, reports the Times. The Group B segment saw Macao racer Cheang Kin Sang finish in second place overall, with Hong Kong’s Bayern Yip ahead and Yip Lung behind.

As in previous years, all racers competed in Toyota GR86 or Subaru BRZ models to ensure a level playing field. The first round of the MTCS took place in April.

The MTCS results are now being tallied to determine which drivers will qualify for the Macau Grand Prix. Organisers have yet to confirm the event format for this year, though it is expected that the touring car segment will return to a single-race format, potentially making qualification even more competitive than in previous years, the Times says.

Last year saw the segment divided into the Roadsport Challenge and the inaugural Roadsport Macau SAR Establishment Cup – added to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China.
