The government will hold the Wushu Masters Challenge again next year as the findings of a survey show that the event was popular among tourists and residents alike, Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun announced during a press conference at the Federal Restaurant in Zape on Thursday.
Pun made the remarks during the press conference about the findings of a survey on this year’s Wushu Masters Challenge conducted by the E-Research & Solutions (ERS), a local research firm which was commissioned by the government.
“After seeing the results of the survey, we [the government] plan to hold it again next year,” Pun said, adding that his bureau would talk to related associations how to make the event even more attractive for residents and tourists.
Pun also said that about 15,000 residents and tourists watched or participated in the six programmes of the Wushu Master Challenge in August while about 7,000 free tickets to the programmes were distributed.
Some of the programmes included interactive segments for the general public.
All the programmes could be watched free of charge.
According to E-Research & Solutions (ERS) Director Cheong Weng Hin, the overall arrangement of the Wushu Master Challenge satisfied about 60 and 83 per cent of the residents and tourists questioned by the survey respectively. Moreover, 83.5 per cent of the residents supported the government to hold the event again next year while 78. 3 per cent of the tourists who took part in the survey found the event attractive.
According to Cheong, the survey was conducted from August 11-14, partly coinciding with the event. A total of 1,002 valid questionnaires were collected, while 600 residents and 402 tourists who attended the programmes of the Wushu Master Challenge were interviewed.(Macau News / The Macau Post Daily)
