Wing Lei Palace has made it onto the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 list, but only just.
Sponsors S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna announced that Wing Lei Palace, part of Cotai’s Wynn Palace and the only Macao restaurant on the list, obtained 50th place, after ranking 22nd last year.
In 2020, Macao had one more restaurant on the list of the 50 best in Asia. Wynn Palace’s Sichuan Moon ranked 23rd last year dropped to 95th this year.
The list of 100 best Asian restaurants includes three more establishments in Macao: “The Eight” (68th) and “Robuchon au Dôme” (88th), both at the Grand Lisboa hotel-casino, in addition to the “Jade Dragon “(100th) at the Hotel Parisian.
Hong Kong has the most restaurants in the top 50 – 11 in total – including first place. Next are Singapore and Tokyo with seven each, then Bangkok with six.
Asia’s best restaurant is named as Hong Kong’s The Chairman. It is followed by Singapore’s Odette, Tokyo’s Den and Bangkok’s Le Du.
Also deserving mentions are Bangkok’s Gaggan in 6th place, followed by Suhring which is also in Bangkok. Japan takes the 7th and 8th spots with two restaurants – Tokyo’s Floriège and Osaka’s La Cime.
