Artistic troupes, schools, community organisations and institutions have been called on to take part in 2022’s Chinese New Year parade.

The parade is due to be held on 3 February and 12 February, with a theme based on the zodiac sign of the tiger to “symbolise the revitalisation of the city’s economy and the prosperity of local industries”, according to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

Performances will be expected to convey the “vigour and vitality” of the tiger, and Macao’s flourishing industry  and economic development.

The performance groups will take part in the Float Parade from 8 pm to 10 pm starting from Sai Van Lake Square, and proceeding along Avenida Dr Sun Yat-Sen to the Macao Science Centre, with each group needing to perform for a short period.

The MGTO has said it will evaluate applicants and choose groups based on their themes and ideas, local distinctive elements, and their performance experience, adding that subsidies will be available, The Macau Post Daily reported.
