The government has announced two major recreation projects: the construction of a sports park at the Yat Yuen Canidrome and the development of a large youth adventure camp at Coloane’s Hac Sa Beach.
Both projects were disclosed at a press conference yesterday, Macau Post Daily reports.
The 10-hectare youth camp will be completed in 2025 and is expected to cost some 1.6 billion patacas.
According to officials, the development will offer adventure facilities such as zip lines, climbing walls, a mountain bike circuit, running trails and a skatepark. There will be an area for camping, dining outlets, an activity centre and parking for 200 vehicles.

A 28-metre-high Kun Iam statue will also be erected at the nearby Hac Sa Reservoir Natural Park, as part of a general upgrading of the area’s amenities, Macau Post Daily says. The statue will be the second of its kind in Coloane, joining the 20-metre A-Ma Statue on Coloane Hill Peak.
Meanwhile, the government says it has scrapped its plan to build schools on the 40,000-square-metre site of the now defunct Yat Yuen Canidrome in the Fai Chi Kei district.
Instead, it will use the area for a “sports park” that will include running tracks, indoor sports facilities, an activity centre and parking. The budget and timing of the project will be announced when designs are finalised, officials say.
