The 2025 Tencent Music Entertainment Awards (TMEA) was held at Galaxy yesterday, celebrating Mandopop under the theme “Cheers for Musix.”

The event showcased a line-up of Mandopop industry heavyweights and emerging artists. Highlights included Zhou Shen’s rendition of “Walalilongla,” Jane Zhang’s “野心家” (“Ambitious”) and an emotional duet by Silence Wang and Yisa Yu. Finally, Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai closed the night with a nostalgic medley of eight classic hits which led to an impassioned sing-a-long amongst the crowd, according to Chinese media outlet Sohu.

Zhou Shen was honoured as Artist of the Year for his album “Anti-Pronoun,” while Silence Wang and Yisa Yu claimed the titles of Best Mainland Male Singer and Best Mainland Female Singer.

The event also recognised Khalil Fong, Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai with special contribution awards for their enduring impact on the music scene.

TMEA has been running since 2019 in Macao and recognises the top artists among Tencent Music’s various music streaming platforms. Last year, the awards were held from 19 to 21 July with the theme of “High Five Music Drive.”

TMEA is not to be confused with TMElive which took place on 22 and 23 August at the Galaxy Arena, where K-pop band Aespa won International Group of the Year.
