The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Monday that the number of the visitors to the city was expected to increase three to five percent compared to the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday last year, adding that it would deploy more staff to maintain public order on the days that crowding is expected.
The police said in the statement from today to February 28 huge crowds were expected in the city centre and border checkpoints thus more police officers would be on duty to maintain public order.
The police also said that crowd control measures would be in place in areas including the city’s main thoroughfare Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro (commonly known as San Ma Lou).
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) said in a statement on Monday that concerning demand for additional flights during the CNY holiday it has approved an extra 73 flights including charter flights which will be available from Saturday, up 160 percent from the same holiday period a year earlier.
The AACM also said in the statement that during the same period last year a total of 28 flights including charter flights were added. (macaunews/macaupost)
