Macau recorded 2.5 million visitor arrivals last month, averaging 80,684 a day, a year-on-year increase of 5.7 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Monday.
Overnight visitors rose by 13.9 percent to 1.33 million, while same-day visitors dropped by 2.4 percent to 1.16 million.
The average stay of overnight visitors dropped by 0.1 day to 2.1 days.
Mainland Chinese visitors rose by 11.5 percent to 1.65 million. Some 44.8 percent of visitors from the mainland were individual travellers.
While Hong Kong visitors fell by 12.6 percent to 492,215 last month, South Korean visitors leapt by 56.9 percent to 65,393. Taiwan visitors rose by 7.5 percent to 84,347. South Koreans accounted for Macau’s number-one segment of foreign visitor arrivals.
In the first quarter of the year, visitor arrivals increased by 5.6 percent to 7.8 million.
