Macao can look forward to more than 20,000 daily visitors from mainland China during Golden Week, according to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that after recording 18,000 visitors a day over Easter, she believed that the number of visitor arrivals could reach over 20,000 per day over the Labour Day weekend as the validity period for nucleic acid test (NAT) results was extended by the local government to 48 hours yesterday.

Senna Fernandes underlined that cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities is crucial to tourism in Macao, adding that “MGTO has scheduled the Macao International Tourism (Industry) Expo in July, hoping to attract more participants from mainland China”.

In the second half of the year, she added, MGTO would focus on promoting Macao to other GBA cities, as well as hosting its “Macao Week” promotions in different provinces in mainland China, The Macau Post Daily reported.
