Eligible seniors can now file their old-age pension applications via the Macao One Account app or website and so will not need to visit a service point.

The Social Security Fund (FSS) said that the amount of the old-age pension that the applicant can receive based on his/her actual circumstances will be automatically calculated by the system, which will also show their basic information. To complete the application process, applicants only need to provide bank account details and undertake facial recognition.

The FSS noted that whether they are aged over 65, or over 60 but under 65, Social Security System beneficiaries enrolled before 1 January 2011 (old system) or after that date (new system) can apply for the pension through the app or website.

Applicants must meet requirements by having made contributions for at least 60 months and have habitually resided in Macao for at least seven years.

Upon accessing Macao One Account’s old age pension application page, the system will show information including the amount of old age pension that the applicant can receive and the accumulated contribution months.

After confirming the information, he/she should enter the application information page. The system will show the applicant’s basic information such as their name and beneficiary number, while they will only need to choose the receiving bank and fill in the personal MOP bank account number.

If necessary, applicants can also change their address on FSS records and upload the “bank information photos showing the bank name, account name, account number and currency”.

Upon verifying all of the information and completing facial recognition, the application can be submitted. The web version maintains the same steps, but a mobile device such as a phone will be needed for the facial recognition part of the process.

The beneficiary can then check his/her application status by logging into Macao One Account after completing their application, The Macau Post Daily reported.
