The Health Bureau (SSM) announced on Sunday the immediate recall of Simegel Chewable Tablets from Taiwan for containing non-pharmaceutical ingredients such as calcium carbonate.
The bureau said it ordered the recall after receiving a warning from its counterpart in Taiwan. The announcement failed to state the remedy’s health risks.
The tablets are produced by Purzer Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. in Taipei City.
According to the company’s website, the tablets also contain simethicone and magnesium hydroxide.
A MediPharma website describes the tables as “a potent antacid for prompt relief of ulcer pain and excessive secretion of gastric acid.”
In case of doubts and clarifications, the bureau said it was ready to provide further information on 66833329 and 85983523 during office hours. (Macaunews/Macaupost)
