The Transport Bureau (DSAT) is inviting bids for 250 licences to operate conventional taxis, according to Wednesday’s Official Gazette (BO).
The gazette says that the tenders must be submitted to the bureau by 6 p.m. on April 14, and the minimum bid is to be 200,000 patacas. The licences will be valid for eight years and cannot be transferred, according to the gazette.
The bureau is slated to hold a meeting in the morning of April 17 at the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) to unseal and screen the bids, according to the gazette.
Meanwhile, concerning the tenders for a special licence to operate up to 100 radio taxis, the DSAT will hold a meeting today to continue its review of the submission received from Macau Radio Taxi Corporation.
The bureau announced in January that Lai Ou Taxi Services, a company chaired by local businessman David Chow Kam Fai, had had its bid for the licence accepted. The bids submitted by the other two bidders, namely Taxigo Company and Macau Radio Taxi Corporation, were declared invalid as they did not follow the rules for the bid set by the bureau.
However, the bureau announced last week that it has decided to re-review Macau Radio Taxi’s submission, after the company had filed an appeal with the bureau against the invalidation of its bid in January. According to the bureau, currently 1,080 onventional taxis are in service.
