A local man died yesterday after falling from the rooftop of a high-rise building near the Barrier Gate border checkpoint where he lived.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) identified the man as a 26-year-old surnamed Chao.
The Fire Services Bureau (CB) transferred the case to the PJ for follow-up investigation at 10:20 am yesterday.
Chao was found lying on the podium on the second floor of Block 3 of the Sun Star Plaza residential estate in Avenida do Hipódromo yesterday morning, after which he was rushed to the Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre where he was pronounced dead after emergency treatment to save his life had failed.
According to the PJ, initial examinations showed that Chao had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, and neither had he any suspicious injuries.
His injuries were caused by “falling from a height”.
According to the statement, Chao’s elder brother told PJ officers that the 26-year-old lived with his family members in a flat in the building.
The 26-year-old showed “no abnormalities” when having dinner with his family members on Wednesday night, adding that he returned to his bedroom after the dinner.
The brother only realised that his sibling had “fallen” from the building when police officers went to his flat to question him at around 11 am yesterday.
He told the PJ officers that a pair of slippers found on the building’s rooftop belonged to his younger brother.
No suicide note was found at the scene, The Macau Post Daily reported.
