The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) forecast on Sunday that tropical storm Talim which recently formed near Guam will move to Luzon Strait and Taiwan later this week.

The weather station also forecast that Talim will be stronger than Hato, which killed 10 and injured 244 when it descended on Macau last month.

The government has said Hato was the strongest typhoon to have hit Macau in 53 years, coinciding with a storm surge that caused massive floods in the city’s low-lying areas.

According to the Macau Post Daily, the bureau said Talim was forecast to move west-north-west and to intensify gradually in the coming days, predicting the storm to move to Luzon Strait and be near Taiwan on Wednesday and Thursday.

The bureau warned that Talim was expected to be stronger than Hato, adding that residents should be vigilant and pay attention to the latest news released by the bureau.
