For the second time this week, police have arrested a Brazilian woman for smuggling cocaine into Macau.

The woman was caught at the Macau International Airport Friday night in a flight from Manila.

Police say the woman, 48 years old, was looking suspicious and caught her hiding some two kilograms of cocaine in her trousers, with an estimated value of some 6.6 million patacas (US$ 3.3 million).

Officials, quoted by Macau television (TDM), say the suspect was supposed to stop over in Macau and then smuggle the drugs to other neighbouring cities.

“We lifted up her trousers and saw several packs of white plastic bags tied up on both of her legs, then we opened the bag and found around 2 kilograms of cocaine in there which worth some 6.6 million patacas”, said Judiciary Police Spokesperson Tam Weng Keong.

The suspect claims that she was simply following an order from a male friend in Brazil and departed her country on September 11, first travelled to Dubai, Manila and then to Macau.

If successfully smuggle the cocaine to the final destination, the suspect claims she would receive over 12,000 US dollars as reward.

Last Thursday the Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a young Brazilian woman at the airport for smuggling 1.76 kilos of cocaine into Macau.

The smuggler was arrested in a flight from Bangkok, Thailand.
