Treasure Island Resort World Shopping Centre – the biggest mall on the Macao peninsula – is expected to have its soft opening by the end of this year.

Previous media reports indicated that the five-storey, 37,000-square-metre complex on Praça de Ferreira do Amaral – comprising high-end retail stores, a massive movie theatre, a fitness centre, and a five-star hotel – would open on 1 October, though it was initially slated for the end of 2022.

Jones Lang LaSalle Limited is the sole leasing agent for the property. The firm’s general manager in Macao and Zhuhai, Oliver Tong, said details about Treasure Island Resort’s 650-room hotel should be announced within the next two or three weeks.

According to the Macau Post Daily, the new hotel covers about 8,100 square metres. Tong told the paper that only 200 or so rooms would be made available during the resort’s soft opening.

He added that about 80 percent of the mall’s retail space had already been rented, noting that most of the retailers would be internationally renowned brands, with “quite a few” setting up shop in Macao for the first time.

Key tenants are expected to include French department store Galeries Lafayette, UFC gym and a 2,787-square-metre cinema described as the “most advanced” in Macao.
