Homicides are extremely rare in Macao, with none reported by the government in 2022.
However, a suspect was taken into custody in March after allegedly murdering a woman in the Pension Florida Hotel near Senado Square.
In figures released in March, authorities noted that just 153 cases of violent crime were reported to police last year.
There were 371 crimes related to gaming in 2022, an almost 43 percent decrease from the year before.
