Billy Chan has been voted the new chairman of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Macau (AustCham). He was formerly the vice-chairman and succeeds Janet McNab in the top slot.
The vote took place at a general assembly meeting on Wednesday.
Chan heads the Centre for Education in Medical Simulation at Macau University of Science and Technology, and is the current chair of the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation.

Among numerous other roles, he is an executive council member of the World Association of Chinese Doctors and a co-founder of Sino-Luso International Medical Forum, which promotes healthcare education and skill sharing between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Chan told media that he wanted to expand the chamber’s outreach and spoke of the necessity of “creating new networking opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”. He also pledged to continue AustCham’s charity programme, saying he wanted to “explore new ways to give back to the community”.
AustCham started as the Macau Business Network of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macau before becoming a chamber in its own right in 2018.
