Singapore has the world’s most powerful passport in 2024, according to the latest Henley Passport Index – which ranks all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.
The Singaporean travel document lets holders enter a whopping 195 countries and territories visa-free. With 192 destinations at their fingertips, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish passport holders come in tied at second place.
Six European countries, along with South Korea, round out the top three slots and have 191 destinations open to them. Portugal, meanwhile, came in at 5th place with 185 destinations.

The Macao passport did not make the top 10 (or top 30, for that matter) most powerful travel documents in the world. It ranks at number 32, along with the Caribbean nation Dominica – both have access to 143 countries and territories visa-free.
Mainland China’s passport comes in 59th place, with 85 destinations allowing Chinese nationals visa-free access. Hong Kong is in the 18th slot, with 170 destinations, while Taiwan ranks just below Macao at number 33 (141 destinations).
Afghanis, meanwhile, possess the least powerful passport in the world, with only 26 destinations granting it visa-free access. Iraq and Syria rounded out the bottom three.
