The Black Bears, Macao’s top basketball team, have announced a new addition: Filipino-American Quentin Millora-Brown, nicknamed “QMB.” The 24-year-old will play in Macao’s upcoming game against the Philippines national team, Gilas Pilipinas.
“Quentin brings elite rebounding, shot-blocking, and interior toughness,” the Black Bears said in a social media post on Monday.
The 6’10” forward’s first match for Macao was on Tuesday, against the Naic Aces – a collegiate team from the Philippines – in the Asian Tournament’s Shanxi Leg. The Black Bears beat the Naic Aces 121–105, and currently top the tournament’s leaderboard.
The Black Bears and Gilas Pilipinas exhibition match will take place on 28 July at the Philippines’ Araneta Coliseum, just before the host side heads to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup. Speaking to media earlier this month, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone described the Black Bears as a “really strong team” with “good imports.”

Millora-Brown grew up in the US and played basketball for several US university teams, including the Rice Owls and Vanderbilt Commodores. He then moved on to play for South Carolina’s Citadel Bulldogs, where he broke single-season records for total rebounds, defensive rebounds, and double-doubles.
Last year, he relocated to the Philippines to play for the UP Fighting Maroons of the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he was studying as a master’s student. According to Philippine sports media, Millora-Brown had hoped to play for Gilas Pilipinas – but was barred due to FIBA’s eligibility rules around citizenship.
“As it pertains to personal goals and aspirations, the FIBA ruling hurts QMB. But it is an even greater loss to our national team,” Spin.ph wrote.
The publication also noted that Millora-Brown would only play a few games for the Black Bears before beginning his professional career with an undisclosed team in Europe.
