Wu Yibing will appear in the inaugural MGM Macau Tennis Masters invitational in December.

In April, Wu achieved the second-highest ATP ranking ever for a male Chinese player (no. 54) –  two months after becoming the first Chinese man to clinch an ATP singles final, at the Dallas Open, defeating Taylor Fritz.

He will be joined by the 2021 US Open women’s singles title winner, Emma Raducanu of the UK.

Other players lined up for the event include Swiss Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic (number 15 in the WTA rankings), and Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe (in the ATP number 9 and 10 slots respectively). Another male player will reportedly be announced soon.

The event will be produced by IMG, which has signed a three-year agreement with MGM to bring sporting fixtures to the territory.

At a press conference in Macao on Tuesday, its senior vice president of tennis events, Luiz Carvalho, said he wanted to get “engagement from the various government entities and the fans in order to build something very special in Macao”.

The invitational takes place on 2-3 December at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. More information can be found here
