The inaugural MGM Macau Tennis Masters will take place from 2 to 3 December at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, according to multiple media reports.

Olympic gold-medal champion Belinda Bencic is slated to appear at the exhibition event, alongside Taylor Fritz (the first American male to rank in the world top 5 since Andy Roddick in 2009) and Frances Tiafoe (only the third African-American in history to make the top ten).

According to Tennis Now, the mixed event will feature two WTA and four ATP players, competing on hard courts in best-of-three-sets matches.

The first day of the invitational tournament will see two men’s singles matches and one mixed doubles match played. A women’s singles match and two men’s singles clashes will take place on the following day.

The event will be a treat for local fans, who have reportedly not seen top echelon tennis in the city since the 2007 Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown.

The news comes in the wake of the announcement of the ATP 250 Zhuhai Championships, scheduled for 20 to 26 September at the nearby Hengqin International Tennis Centre and featuring former world number one, 27-year-old Daniil Medvedev.
