The 2024 Macao International Parade took place on Sunday before thousands of enthusiastic spectators lining the streets.

According to a local government handout, this year’s parade featured over 1,800 performers in over 80 performance groups from Macao, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and overseas. Among the foreign ensembles were groups from Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Togo, France, Spain, Norway, the United Kingdom and Italy.

Performers, who competed for prizes running from best costumes to best theme, departed from the Ruins of St. Paul’s, passed through the Historic Centre of Macao and Senado Square to arrive at the Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van, where a carnival was in full swing, featuring games, booths and workshops.

The parade ended at Sai Van Lake Square, where spectacular evening performances took place.

Live broadcasts of the parade were carried on TDM, while live streaming took place on multiple social media platforms.

This year’s parade, which is part of the number of events commemorating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, was jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Macao’s six gaming concessionaires for the first time, with support from the Macao Government Tourism Office and several other government agencies.
