The Macao Arts Festival has unveiled a varied outreach programme

The workshops, meet-the-artist opportunities and backstage tours will be in addition to the main lineup of this year’s festival, which kicks off in May.

Organisers of the 34th Macao Arts Festival have announced 23 outreach activities to take place between 3 May and 7 June. These will take the form of meet-the-artist sessions, backstage tours, lectures, workshops and more.

“The Macao Arts Festival has always been dedicated to building a bridge of communication between artists and the audience,” the Cultural Affairs Bureau said in a statement published yesterday. 

Workshops will cover circus performance, making craft pop-up books, Taiwanese folk songs are more.

Meet-the-artist sessions will include a talk with Victor Hugo Pontes from Portugal. The artistic director of Nome Próprio (My Own Name) will share his journey from visual artist to choreographer. 

A number of international stage performances, including The Life of Pi presented by the UK’s National Theatre, and Brokeback Mountain by Spain’s Royal Theatre, will also be screened at the city’s cinemas during the festival.
