The St. Regis Bar, at Macao’s St. Regis hotel, has been included in this year’s list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 22nd place. The establishment is the only bar from Macao on a list that includes 9 venues in Hong Kong – among them Bar Leone, which takes Asia’s number one slot, and 3 others in the top 10.

Judges hailed the St. Regis Bar as “an institution within the Macao cocktail scene” and “a destination for luminaries to connect, converse and celebrate,” with a design that is “equal parts sophisticated and stunning.”

They noted that the bar’s drinks list was “replete with fanciful twists on classic cocktails” and homed in on its version of the bloody mary.

“Mirroring Macau’s diverse cultural history, the drink incorporates Portuguese chorizo, Brazilian lime, Angolan piri piri, Indian cinnamon, plus lobster, sea salt, black vinegar and Chinese peppercorns,” the judges said.

Bart Buiring, who heads Greater China luxury operations for Marriott International, said the award was “a first for the St. Regis Brand in Greater China, marking a significant step in our commitment to delivering extraordinary bar experiences for our guests.”

The inclusion of the St. Regis Bar in the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list will come as modest consolation to the local hospitality industry after the city was largely snubbed in the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, with only one entry  – Chef Tam’s Seasons scraping in at number 49.
