From 15 June onwards, all travellers entering Macao from Hong Kong, Taiwan or foreign countries will be subject to mandatory hotel quarantine of 10 days, reduced from the current 14 days, plus the 7 days of self-health monitoring.
To enter Macao, travellers must have completed their Covid-19 vaccination course and must test negative for Covid-19 upon arrival and during the hotel quarantine.
After 10 days in hotel quarantine, it is mandatory that throughout the 7-day period of self-health monitoring, travellers undergo Nucleic Acid Tests (NAT) on day 11, 12, 14, 16 and 17 in order for the Macao Health Codes to display a green colour.
Arrivals from Hong Kong, Taiwan or foreign countries are not allowed to travel to mainland China via Macao until their NAT taken on the 14th day returns as negative for Covid-19.
Last week, Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng said that he did not rule out the possibility of Macao being able to implement a “7+7” model, meaning seven days of hotel quarantine plus a seven-day post-quarantine period. Leong Iek Hou, who heads SSM’s Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Division followed this by saying Macao would only study whether it could implement a “7+7” model after gaining its own experience from the implementation of the “10+7” model.
