72nd Covid-19 case confirmed in Macao

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced that one case was confirmed today (4 October), which is the 72nd Covid-19 case in Macao.

He is one of the 10 preliminary positive Covid-19 results announced early today.

The patient is a 46-year-old mainland Chinese man, who works on renovations at a construction company. He lives in Doumen district in the neighbouring city of Zhuhai, and travels between Macao and Zhuhai daily, driving a motorcycle to get around Macao.

After returning to Macao on 26 September, he stayed in the city, booking a room at Sands Macao (26-27 September), Victoria Hotel (29-30 September) and the Grand Emperor Hotel (28-29 September, 1-4 October). The nucleic acid test results were negative on September 28 and 30. Today, his nucleic acid test results showed that the results were confirmed positive.

The patient had been vaccinated with two doses of the Sinopharm inactivated vaccine on 17 April and 10 June 2021. The investigation of the source of infection is still ongoing.

The centre stated that the patient has no symptoms of discomfort and has been transferred to the Public Health Clinical Centre for further diagnosis and treatment. Further details will be announced later on.
